Self Cleaning Coating Detector– Model#RD1350
The RD1350 is capable of identifying the presence and location of SELF-CLEAN coatings that are photocatalytic with hydrophilic properties. The meter uses state of the art technology coupled with microprocessor control to achieve an EASY-TO-USE hand held meter. The tool is powered by a 9 volt alkaline battery (included).
Photocatalytic coatings should be placed on the exterior surface of a window. The photocatalytic coating uses the sun’s UV light to gradually break down, loosen and dissolve dirt and soil. The coating effectively vaporizes dirt that is on the surface of the glass.
The hydrophilic properties of the coating prevent water from beading when it hits the surface of the glass. Therefore the water has a sheeting effect when it contacts the glass surface. The sheeting effect allows water to carry dirt away from the surface, and prevent the window from streaking or allowing water spots to occur.

Strengthened / Tempered Glass Detector
Confirm if your single or double pane glass has been strengthened.
Test single or multiple panes. On double pane glass, you can test both panes at the same time. This is especially helpful with installed windows when one side of the glass is difficult or impossible to get to. It is also much more efficient in the factory – being able to test either side offers huge time savings and is much more simple than being required to test both sides.
• Identify thickness of the first pane of glass.
To use, simply slide the meter across the glass and conveniently watch the reflections from the glass head on. As the meter crosses stress lines in the glass (caused by the strengtheneing process), the resulting surface reflections from our wide array of light sources will change color. The special optics of the SG2700 product provide a robust change in color, and is great for applicatinos where the stress lines are more difficult to view.
